A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes
Farewell Park Meadows
Every day as I head off to work, I feel so lucky to be part of the Park Meadows Community! Today was no different, except maybe I felt even more grateful because I am chasing one more dream - to be closer to my family. Many of you have seen pictures of my family, including my 2 year old granddaughter named Edda who said last Sunday, “Nana, come down the slide, I’ll catch you!”
With lots of tears, both happy and sad, I announce that I will be leaving Park Meadows School to move to Calgary. I have been given the opportunity to work as the Principal of Silver Springs Elementary School with the Calgary Board of Education. While the timing is less than perfect, Edda and my family need me and I need them. In terms of a new Principal, the School District will keep you informed about the process for my replacement and will have someone in place before school start up. Jackie Fletcher will remain as the Vice Principal and you will continue to have the world’s greatest staff to work and play with your children.
How do I say goodbye?
Oh how I will miss our Park Meadows families and oh how I wish I would have known that yesterday was my last day with our children, because we would have thrown the world’s largest dance party! I have simply fallen in love with the Park Meadows children and families, and you have all taught me so much.
If I was to list all the things I loved, our students would be at the top of the list. You really do take such good care of one another, and trust me when I tell you this magic will keep happening! You will continue to be caring and bright and still do innovative Genius Hours. You will make the Learning Commons amazing, grow as athletes and musicians and probably win the St. Patrick's Day Classic. You will take care of the school and the environment and keep the gardens fabulous! You will certainly all keep working hard – I just read all your report cards and they were beyond awesome, and… I know you will build that beautiful playground in the spring and I will come to help out.
I wish our Parent Council could just jump in a bus and follow me. What a dedicated and caring group you are. What you’ve contributed to make our school remarkable, is remarkable. Thank you for your leadership and tireless energy, for changing with the times, and for all the laughter at our meetings.
So home I go; stronger, wiser and happier for knowing all of you. Feel free to email me or invite me to your high school graduations. You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sending hug….lots of them.
